Growth Potential: Why Fitness is About More Than Staying in Shape

I love the beach. Standing on the shore, watching the ocean break is so exhilarating.

So is that first run into the water when you’re still unsure how strong the current is or how cold the water will be. The best you can do is try to time your dive to avoid going face-first into a wave.

Isn’t that a great metaphor for life?

It’s this sense of uncertainty— and even danger— that makes experiences like these so appealing.

It’s as if, by overcoming them, you become a new person.

I see fitness the exact same way.

Only when it comes to exercise, you have the chance to re-invent yourself each day.

If you think about it that’s a great description of what we’re doing— shaping our perceptions of ourselves by challenging our bodies.

This was the driving factor behind my taking up fitness in the first place (whether I was aware of it at the time or not). By excelling in the gym I was able to create ever better versions of myself.

The positive effects that fitness has on your body are only the most obvious change; its influence actually extends much deeper.

The most interesting part?

How the positive effects which fitness exerts on your body is only the most obvious change– and the realization that its positive influence runs much deeper.

Whether it’s the feeling of pride that rises up in you when you’re finally able to fit into that dress… or the confidence that comes with shattering your expectations in the gym or on the trail.

The effects of fitness are– seen in the broadest sense– an increase in your sense of overall wellness.
That’s what life is all about.

After all no one wants to go through theirs feeling that they’re less than what they’re capable of being!

The good news is that you don’t have to.

You may be familiar with phrase: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about dancing in the rain.”

Well, if an intense workout isn’t dancing in the rain, then I don’t know what is!

As I begin my re-branding campaign that focuses on the many aspects of staying well, I’d love to have you there with me… every step of the way.

We’ll be re-inventing ourselves together.

I just hope you have the right shoes— because we’ve got a lot of dancing to do.
